cynicalA source said - 'Make no mistake about it, this club is ambitious. They believe there is not a player in the world who is outside their budget and that includes Torres. The owners are in it for the long haul. Initially, their number one target is the Champions League next season. But they see that only as the launching pad for greater things. They are now probably the wealthiest club on the globe - now they want to be the best.'

MARK HUGHES MAY GET FIRED
Manchester City's latest draw may be just the tip of the iceburg and the owners may want to replace him. Sources claim that Guus Hiddink, Roberto Mancini and Jose Mourinho are all in line for the job. Hughes' job has been on the line ever since the 3-3 draw with Burnley.
Sheikh Mansour, the owner of Man City, will most probably make a decision whether to keep by the end of the week. A week in which Manchester City face Arsenal and Chelsea.
Also adding pressure to the situation is the fact that Guus Hiddink has been on the prowl for a new job ever since Russia's failure to qualify.
Hughes admitted he was under pressure to get results having spent £200million in the transfer market but claimed the club's Arab owners were willing to be patient. With the recent results, has Hughes run straight through their patience?
Could this be the end?

CHELSEA AND ARSENAL BET OFF
Heres the deal- If Arsenal win, Frank Lampard gives a day's wages (£20 000) to Great Ormond Street Hospital. If Chelsea win, on the other hand, Gooner, Jake Peach, will wear a blues kit for a day.
Back story- Frank Lampard fell in with 12-year-old Jake Peach at a recent awards ceremony and Peach, a leukemia survivor, former patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital and, more importantly, an Arsenal fan, was canny enough to suggest a unique wager to Lampard: If Arsenal win, the Chelsea player will donate a day's wages to the hospital, Arsenal's charity for the season. Peach, however, has to wear a Chelsea shirt for the day if Chelsea is the victor.

MOYES AND RAFA: WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE
“We’ve not done anything different with effectively the same bunch of players who finished fifth last year. We’re not trying anything weird and wonderful. I’m the man responsible for signing the players here. They should be shaking my hand and thanking me for giving them the chance to play for Everton, because it’s such a great club and for some of them it might not get any better [in terms of size of club they play for].”
Benitez- “When I decided to stay here this year, I knew it could be difficult season because a lot of things could happen,” he said. “But I decided to stay because I wanted to.
“Agustin, Garcia Cortes, Sabido, Garcia Navajas, Camacho, Del Bosque, Stielike, Angel, Cunningham, Santillana, and Juanito – this was the Real Madrid team that played the European Cup final against Liverpool in 1981. I was a Real Madrid fan and I was a player at the club at this time.
“Why am I telling you this? Because when I decided to stay, I wanted to fight for Liverpool. When I signed my new contract, I had other offers of more money, bigger transfer budgets, more options to sign players. But I am still here. Sometimes there are good moments, sometimes there are bad moments but I will carry on fighting for this club.”
Kopites have stayed behind Rafa but a defeat to Everton would be hard to swollow.
“You cannot be a fan and be happy if your team is not winning. I will not be making excuses, as we know that we have to improve,” said Benitez."I am convinced we will finish in the top four – and that is not because I have to say it.”
So, should they stay or should they go?
